Today was a relatively normal day which was nice. My eyesight has returned to normal today as well which is awesome. My hands are freezing right now but with little neuropathy, just very slow typing. With the sleeping pills I managed to sleep 7 hours and then I had to get up to go to the washroom. This weekend I have things both mornings so I can not sleep in. Xavier has a 90 minute ice time in Chelmsford in the morning, which Mel asked if I wanted her to come along. I told her that it was up to her and that she would make the right decision. She declined to come, now in the past when the wives have said this to the husbands and we did ot support our wives it was the wrong decision. I am not sure why she would not want to come sit in a cold arena for 2 hours watchig a bunch of the kids on the ice. It just does not make much sense at all. I think that tomorrow I will bring a coffee with me in the morning. I managed to eat well today, but did not drink enough which is evident with my voice today. I went out to lunch with a friend and when he dropped me off at home, my neighbour was out. He recognized her as his wife’s cousin. When I was talking to her she told me that her partner was going to renovate the washroom of our neighbor and I asked if she wanted to see our renovation. She came into the house and she noticed our coffee machine and I made her a coffee to go with one of our nice mugs. Hoepfully we get it back one day. During our conversation she told me that she actually grew up a couple of streets over from where I grew up and her cousin lived across the street. It shocked me because I did not recognize her at all and she is only 1 year younger than I am, but she went to a French school.
There was a chip stand out in the valley that I had wanted to try because they were supposed to have good poutine. Xavier had ice time out there so I wanted to try it. I was disappointed, as I am not sure if the fries were handcut or not, but they tasted like frozen fries to me. I could be wrong, but that is the impression that i got from the taste and texture of the fries. I would not drive out there for them again. Yesterday my parents had dropped off some food for us and they had mentioned that they had bought some ftrozen blue crabs on sale. This was quite fortuitous as I had wanted some blue crab for our crawfish and crab boil. We now have all of the ingredients that we need for our boil. I bought some andouille sausage and Mel bought some corn and potatoes so we will make a nice boil tomorrow. I think that we will end up with some left over but that is ok. Mel wants to eat by 5pm because she is ditching us for Porketta Bingo aftwards. I should drop her off so that she can drink to her hearts content as it is relatively close by and parking is a premium there.
When we drive to further arenas Xavier and I get to chat about random things, and today he was talking about being an intern. I said that he could intern for me at my analytics company but he said that it is frowned upon and might count if it is your parents company, so I offered him to work at one of the other companies I do work with. I said he can intern in either procurement or engineering. He asked if it was paid or unpaid and I said which ever one he wanted. It is interesting as he has done research for his future and he said that a lot of people with engineering backgrounds go into finance because it involves critical thinking and being good with numbers. I told him that for scholarships he needs to show that he is well rounded. He is going to do some coaching this year and asked if he would be on the bench. He thinks he needs to be 18, but he said that he would start taking some of the goalie coaching certifications to help out with things. He is starting to focus on his future and asked what programming languages he should learn or that he should know. I told him what people start with now, and people also tend to do a lot of vibe coding now. You need to understand some of the logic but a lot of it is can be done quickly with AI. It is nice that today was a normal day and we will see how this weekend goes. My palliative care nurse called to see if I wante to get ascites drained and whether I wanted a permanent drain inserted. I said not right now for both as it is normally every 8 weeks. If it becomes every 2 weeks or less than it makes sense to get that inserted, but for now I think that it is ok. I am not struggling with eating and I monitor my weight. I said once my weight increases to 150 then I will get drained. Right now I am at 147 so i think that I am fine as it is not increasing as of yet. If it does over the weekend then I will call and make arrangements right away. Hopefully it does not and it is not an issue.
