Last night we left Ikea after 30 minutes of trying to Tetris every thing into our vehicle. I would like to point out that we did not actually buy everything that we needed. I am not sure how Mel thought that we were going to accomplish it. But once we did buy what we could I was determined that we could do it. Mel and Xavier did not optimize some of the package locations as it was quite difficult to get them into those spaces. While at the hotel this morning we arranged it all and managed to get it all in fairly easy. If I needed my wheelchair it was actually accessible so that was a win for us. We learned a lot of lessons on this trip. Our parents were insane with the sheer amount that they managed to pack into their vehicles. I am pretty sure that as much as we did, they would look at it and think it was a rookie job as there was still open space left. We could see both of the kids in the backseat and I could just make out the top of the back of the van. This was week 1 and my disdain for so much food is going to make things rough for hockey. There were a lot of Asian options that I could rely on and we will need to prepare some food in advance. I looked up some restaurants and found a Vietnamese restaurant that was all Thai food. That is a bit confusing. There are some options at least and I think that I might focus on some soups and I did find some places that do have some congee, which is my favorite. I will need to share with Xavier though. What surprised me though is that in all of the restaurants that I took a quick look at they did not have clams in black bean sauce. On this trip we did not bring my gel seats and boy did I miss those. For most of the weekend I drove but today on the drive home I was getting super tired and at one point my vision seemed to be a bit blurry. I pulled over and let Mel take over with approximately 1 hour and 45minutes left. I had turned off near an on ramp so there was a ton of space behind me, but something interesting that I noticed was that a vehicle had pulled over as well behind us and then they kept on going. I am not sure what they were doing but I suspect that they wanted to catch a glimpse of the gold medal 31st ranked Boy ms U16 white belt. There is someone from Sudbury that is ranked 13th, but he has competed in quite alot more events than Xavier.
Our washroom renovations are coming along well and it looks like the tiles are mostly in place for Mel’s oasis. I do not recall all of her design choices so it will be a surprise to me. My office is looking great though with dark red walls and all white furniture. I need to find a nice white desk to go along with everything. Luckily I ordered myself a new white chair way back in July before I knew what the colour scheme was going to be. I might sleep in that room on occasion because I can make it quite warm. Last night I kicked off all of my blankets because I was so warm. I had my toe warmers with thick slippers, I alo had my heating mattress, body warmers and small heater. With all of that apparently it was warm enough and I had enough. I went to bed at 11pm and woke up at 8am with the new clock back time so I was quite exhausted. We did a lot this weekend and I pushed myself quite a bit and I think that we handled it fine. Another day trip to get the rest of the stuff should happen sooner as opposed to later because there are only certain weeks that I can go. We go to the tournament on week 1 so think that we will be ok. The tournament in January should fall on week 1 or 2 as well, but I might say we should take a bit of a break and see what happens. This new treatment is tough and then throwing in travel makes it even more challenging. So far we have been able to handle it, but with some difficulties. I can not really stay home alone so it is a balancing act on going and figuring it out or staying home with assistance from the parents. Which might be quite the interesting experience. I am going to bed early tonight and hopefully things will be awesome tomorrow.
