I had a bit of a hard time falling asleep last night as I had to go to the washroom for approximately an hour prior to bed. I ended up vacating my bowels over that time and ended up going to bed around 1:30. What it did reinforce though is that the Paxcl treatment seems to regulate my bowel movements on a pretty regular basis. It continued today and things seem more or less back to normal now. Eating has been fine and I can still eat a fair bit because of the impact of the dexamethasone. That should be reduced over the next couple of days though. Today was a bit of a busy day as i had meetings and visits from medical staff. Everything seems fine from that part. The neuropathy in my hands is actually getting better which is nice. It is a bit unexpected as I figured with the new treatment it might get worse. My weight is stable and has not increased. Taste seems to be fine and no textures bother me. I shared some ramen with Xavier and my mother inaw had said it was salty, but Xavier said it was delicious and I added Maggi seasoning to make it saltier as I could not taste it as much. Olivier had his birthday party with his friends today and they had gone to the escape room and then came back for a fire and hotdogs. I started a fire at 4:30 and had a lot of hot coals by 6:00 when everyone arrived. Xavier spent an hour trying to split a log with lots of knots. He shaved parts off, but never actually got it split, though he is close. I managed to eat 2 hot dogs which was a good accomplishment. Right now energy wise I feel fine but I am starting to get fatigued. I am not sure if I could have lasted 4 hours going out to Capreol this evening so late in the evening so I appreciate that team mates were willing to give him a drive. For his high school team, there were 4 grade 10 kids that made the first cut. So he made the cut with one of his teammates on his current team and with a friend of his from school. He knows the other kid and a lot of the other kids on the team. Final cuts are on Tuesday so we will see what happens then.
Today when some colleagues of mine found out that Mel was going to be gone for the weekend they wanted to come and check in on me to make sure that I was going to be ok. They invited themselves over for lunch so it should be fun. I think that I will make some healthy vegetarian dishes for lunch and a simple spread of some charcuterie. I have done other ideas as well that I can make. It all depends on how creative I want to get that day. I have some ideas on things that I can do that will be delicious. This weekend I will see what kid of energy level I have and then I can decide. I may make things that people have not had before to make things a bit more interesting. I have been able tolerate pita bread so I may stick with that as well as some tomatoes as I can taste that. I have ideas at least. If I am feeling super well I would make fresh pitas but it may be more work than I want to commit to. It seems that a lot of things that I do revolve around food. On Monday we will not be able to eat at my parents as Xavier has a practice at 7pm out in Capreol and it will involve leaving around 5:20 or so. I will need to figure out a dinner that generates left overs. Or I can get my parents to drop off food early enough for the kids. I do have my appointment with the Doctor that day so I am not sure what time I will be done that at.
Tomorrow we will be having the family party for Olivier, but we will keep it simple and order some pizza from Toppers. Olivier had requested a couple of pizzas so we will get those one for him. Generally we order the ultra thin crust, but we will see what we get tomorrow. We have not gotten him a gift yet. Last year Xavier’s brand new goalie gear arrived on his birthday. This year he got it earlier and his sticks will arrive in a month. I rather enjoy my baths and it is one of the reasons why I do not want a permanent tube in my stomach. As we currently only have 1 washroom and we shower in the tub, it gets dirty. Mel as kind enough to clean it for me tonight so I could soak in it. I appreciate that she did that after she spent the last 7 hours supervising 12 year olds.
