I seemed to have been in quite the cranky mood today. I am not sure if it was because I kept on getting up in the night for things or not. The morning started with driving Xavier to CND with his hockey gear. We left at 7:28 because I did not want to be late getting back to go to the hospital. I was concerned about work traffic and school buses. It took 8 minutes to get to the school and 11 to get back home. The buses stopping at the tracks and letting kids on slowed me down about 30 second to a minute each time. I was a bit surprised to see parents still going to bus stops for kids catching the bus so early as they tend to go to a high school at gat point, but it is understandable if the child is in grade 7. We got to the cancer center on time and I gave a urine sample and Mel bought me 2 timbits. A honey dip and the caramel snitch donut. They were both ok, but nothing special. Treatment started 15 minutes late today. The urine sample should have been quick to do, but I am not sure why mine started on late. I saw a lot of families come in with kids for treatment today and it makes me a bit sad to see so many kids going in to the center. I had mentioned this to my nurse today and she agreed with me but said that they were strong. With this change in drug they provide me with anew care plan. I had 1 hour of all sorts of drugs prior including my favorite Benadryl. Then the regular drugs. My nutritionist came to see me while I was preparing to go to sleep and I do not remember what we talked about at all. The slippers worked awesome at keeping my feet warm and for the most part I was warm. I got up a couple of times to go to the washroom otherwise I slept the whole time. One time when I went the guy prior had gone to the washroom and it was quite full and was off-putting. They did not flush at all. I had to flush 3 times. The seat was not even down. I do not understand why people do not do the most simple of tasks. I struggle at times flushing those toilets but I always do. They could have asked their support person who went with them or a nurse to help out. Leaving the cancer center i did not feel as drugged up as I normally do.
Normally when we leave the cancer center I struggle to get into the house and go straight to bed. This time I ate food a couple of times because of the impact of dexamethasone and went and sat in my chair. I do not like to go to bed with a stomach that is too full so I waited a bit. We had left the cancer center at 1:15 and arrived home around 1:30 I think. Around 2:30 or 2:45 I decided to nap but I wanted to pick up Xavier at his practice at Copper Cliff so I could watch him. I caught about 10 and chatted with some parents. The consensus is that he should make the team, but it never prevented him from not signing to a team before. They were cutting players tonight and the rest of the cuts will be on Tuesday. I can not see them carrying 4 goalies, though it is not the worst idea as you would have a grade 10, 11 and the 2 grade 12 goalies. You could then give experience to the younger goalies or if you wanted to win you start to win. Either way as we a bunch of parents were talking to coaches that we knew and Xavier came out they remarked at how big he got and how strong he was. His back is big now and it pushes his equipment outward giving him more size as he is no longer scrawny. The coach said that he had played well during practice. That coaches always loved his work ethic and wanted him when he was deciding schools in grade 8, on our way out they said see you next Tuesday which would imply that he should make these cuts.
Olivier was sending messages to Mel today and he was pretty devastated. He forgot his Yeti in the gym and he was not able to go back until much later and it was no longer there. He has had this one for a very long time and he was devastated when it did not turn up. He is going to see if he can find it tomorrow and if not I will see if they go on sale on Monday. If they do not I will buy a bunch via my company for marketing and if someone steals one with the Mach Research logo it will be quite evident that it is ours. Things like this happen and it is not a big deal. They are just material goods. He had lost a mechanical pencil as well and found the shattered pieces later. I asked Mel if he was getting bullied or anything at school and he said no. Olivier would share if kids were doing things that they were not supposed to. Xavier would bottle it inside, but he is also now if a size that it would be foolish for kids stop bully him. He is large, strong and knows how to fight.
So far today has not gone as expected, but in a pleasant way. Mel should be ok to abandon the family on Sunday and we will get by ok. I have people that will come check in on me on Monday and Tuesday to make sure that I am ok. My support system is awesome. As soon as people know that Mel is not around they offer to stop by. My parents brought food over tonight and I do not understand them. The amount that they brought today was not that much compare to others. There is barely enough for lunch. They also brought aor of frozen food which we told them that they needed to stop with that as we do. It have the space. We have some room now, but we need it for the 2 parties this weekend. They do not understand that. Their heart is in the right place, but the execution is about lacking. They kept on going on with everything and I lacked the energy to deal with them so I told Mel to.
