When I first found out that I had cancer and started telling people everyone started offering support. It is quite easy to point out small things that everyone did.
1.) One of my coworkers asked me if I needed help financially and when I laughed and said I plan to work they replied that is good. I asked that if I said I needed $20,000 would they give it to me. The reply was yeah they would try and figure something out….surprisingly to me this was not an isolated incident and friends asked whether I was ok financially. These are the types of people that I have in my life and I am grateful for people like this.
2.) Another friend of mine living in a distant location had a relative go through something similar and beat it. They had taken certain herbs and things to help them combat it. They spent time gathering all of the teas and pill form that they could immediately and mailed it to me without concern about cost. Overnight express international.
3.) When Mel first found out she was shocked to say the least. She refused to think of this as unsurmountable. It was a bit difficult at first as she realized the changes we would have in our life. She has a great super power though. The ability to nag and make sure things get done in the house. Apparently guys leaving random clothing around the house is not something she likes. Unfortunately for her she lives with 3 guys who leave things around. She keeps the house running smoothly by pointing out all of the things that we do wrong on a daily basis. Unfortunately we are slow learners, but her nagging ability is superior and she manages to find new ways to tell us to do the simple things daily.
