I finally fixed my laptop enough that I can use it now. I should have done it a while ago but I did not. The battery needed to be replaced by a screw had been stripped so it was hard to get off. I managed to get it off and replaced and now it is fine. The battery in the system was starting to expand and pushing the space bar so it was not super functional. Now that it works I can use it again.
We have the occasional flood in our backyard due to the way some of the planning was done. The city says that the storm drainage in the back meets the demands of all the new building up on the hill, but these once in a lifetime occurrences happen roughly every time there is a sudden heavy downpour. The city refuses to do anything about it besides sending someone out to make sure that the drains are cleared prior to a heavy rainfall. It still happens as any debris comes down and blocks it. Last week during the day it occurred and Mel was with the boys upstairs and noticed it. She went out to deal with it. She has her own rubber boots, but she likes to use mine because I keep them in the garage ready to jump into in case of an emergency. Melanie does not believe in this and likes to have them stored away to keep things not messy. As Melanie went out to deal with the storm drain, Olivier came into my office. He knows not to bother me during work, so I figured something was up. He told me about the flooding and said that mom needs help. I assumed that Melanie had asked him to get me to go help out. As this happened over the last year I have not been able to help and our neighbour and Mel normally take care of it. The kids are starting to see that I can do more now and starting to rely on me more as compared to the past when they would not. It is a nice change for it. I tried to find my boots that were set up so I can jump right into them at a moment’s notice and was disappointed they were not there. As the flooding increased and the river was expanding I put on my backup emergency flood water shoes I keep by the door. Melanie complains that her rubber boots leak, but she has not bought a new pair in 5 years after hers leaked. I suspect it is because it would be a lot of effort to make sure hers are always ready to go. I need to check every night that they are in the proper spot so I can run out the door and jump right into them. Since I had running shoes on I ran out to the yard and through the water and it was not too bad. I think I can go in the water swimming now and be ok. My feet were not warm, but they did not hurt from the cold which is a good sign. We managed to clear the drain and the emergency was averted. Melanie did not reset my boots in the proper place. If we have another flooding I will not be prepared to go right now. I check every night and they are not where they are suppose to be.
I have slowly been gaining weight and at the rate that I am going, I gain and maintain about a pound per month. I can slowly eat more and things seem to be getting back to normal more. I do like this change and I am feeling better. We had gone camping the first week of July and my activity sky rocketed. There was a day where I was over 12,000 steps and the other days I was approaching 10,000 steps. During those days I felt good and managed to do well. Coming back home at the end of the week though was extremely exhausting though. I realized that I can not maintain a high level of activity like that over a period of time.
We replaced our lights in the front and back yard. It was a bit tiring and I need to make sure I monitor my exertion. It is still not where it needs to be. When I spoke with one of my doctors and nutritionists I was informed that for now I should just be working on increasing my caloric intake and not to work too hard on thing and let those things develop a bit over time. Lifting heavy things is what really drains my energy and it takes a couple of days to recover from.
