Hi everyone
A couple of weeks ago I went in for some bloodwork and a CT scan. I had not heard back from any of the doctors yet but I had an appointment with my oncologist today. I am not going to lie, this was an appointment that made me nervous. It was my first appointment after the CT scans. The reason being that if the scans had signs of cancer, I am not sure how I would react to it. It would have meant that all of the treatment that I had just gone through did not work and it had spread despite it. If it comes back in a year or so it will not phase me much. Melanie was the opposite and was not worried about this one but will be for all of the future ones.
My dizzy spells are getting worse with the new medication. It happens now when I am sitting or lying down. We have measured my blood pressure and it has been fine when we measure it. What I have been done with these dizzy spells is if Mel is not home I make sure I tell one of my work colleagues to check in after a time frame and if they do not hear from me then to call my wife. The interesting thing when this happens is that I know I am going to have issues as I have trouble concentrating or have fuzzy thoughts. Normally I can type easily without any issues, and when I have these dizzy spells I can not type and make so many errors. It is like my fingers are all at the wrong spot and I can not move things properly. My head also hurts when this happens and I can feel it. I had a CT scan a couple of weeks back and everything seemed fine.
My physiotherapist has added some new exercises for me and I had some new ones that are really hard to do since I had to raise my head. My balance is pretty bad now and my core has lost a lot of strength. With all of the hockey right now it is helping out a lot with strengthening my muscles.
My oncologist is concerned with the migraines coupled with the dizziness/lightheaded episodes and wants me to check in with a neurologist. The family doctor has me visiting a chiropodist to get some compression socks to see if that helps. I will also be getting a Holter monitor to see if it has to do with my blood pressure. I am looking forward to adding another doctor to my team to follow up with. So far I have 2 oncologists, a surgeon, my family doctor, chiropodist and perhaps a cardiologist and neurologist soon.
So in short, right now I am cancer free in 2021!
