I was a bit lazy today for the majority of the day and it seemed to fly by. I started the morning trying to make sure that I did all of the drinks I had to while maintaining my eating schedule. I started with my tofu, then drank some Restoralax, ate some sushi and salad, had a jelly pig and coffee, drank my electrolyte drink while eating a slice of pizza, and then had another slice of pizza after an hour. The Miami F1 race was moved up from 4pm to 1pm because of potential thunderstorms, so I spent the afternoon watching that while eating my pizza. I needed to go to Smith to purchase some things for dinner and I kept on slacking off on that until it was 4:30. I went and bought everything I needed and did not use the electric wheel chair, but by the end of it I was a bit tired and was glad that I was in the vehicle. Once home I had to do some prep work for dinner and we ended up eating around 6:00pm which included me cooking on the BBQ outside. I realized that it was quite tiring and I could do it all and while I am doing it, it was not too bad. Once I am done then the energy drain really hits me and I realize that I am tired. I ended up eating enough food and it seemed to be ok. My weight has been increasing as I weighed myself and I am seeing approximately a 1lb increase per day still, so I am still trending the same.
Mel had the kids help clean the house to make sure that things are well for the next three days as she abandons me. I know that she will be concerned for me, but I think that I am in an ok state right now to do things. She is worried about me making lunches for the kids, but I have things planned and I only need to make Olivier two lunches so it is not too bad. After cleaning the house, Xavier had a friend come over and they worked out and then went for a bike ride. Olivier made himself lunch and fancy hot chocolate drinks. Watching him prepare his food is amusing and for dinner we had Asian bowls where I had marinated some meat this morning and then made a korean sauce to go with it after my return from Smith. Xacier eats all about speed, he enjoys his food but he is 100% about efficiency and what he likes to take to school to eat is very simple. He likes meat and rice. That is his go to lunch as he eats it at room temperature. Olivier likes to make picture perfect bowls and takes photos of his creation. He asked if we had some avocado to go with the bowsl and we unfortunately did not have any for him, but he fried himself and egg for his bowl while everyone else was too lazy to do that or did not want to wait for an egg.
Tomorrow night we also have his first team skate with his summer team where the kids get together and just have fun. Yesterday one of my friends had asked if we went to the U18AA tryotus and it is not something that I actually thought about or so until it was too late. He could have went right away after the first night, They actually do evaluation at the U18AA tryouts so he would have had a shot, but he would also be playing 2 years up. Skill wise he is better than some of the goalies that are older than he is, as some of them practice at RHP and he has better edge work and positioning them some of his older peers. Sizewise he is either the same or bigger than a majority of them and he does an excellent job of taking up space. By that time I was kind of disillusioned with everything and did not think to ask him if he had wanted to play up as I think he will enjoy playing high school hockey. It is pretty good hockey, I am curious on what colour scheme he will go with his new pads this year, if he will go with school colours or stick with the theme to match his own stuff. With his personality he tends to not care about matching the team and wants to go with the colours that he likes. He was also asked to play in an indigenous hockey tournament in Ottawa this summer even though he has no status. I asked him if he was interested and he said yes. We have some parents on the team that will take care of him and we will pay for his room if we can not go. Technically I am supposed to be scheduled for Chemo that week if we maintain our 2 week scheduling and if I do not go back to Spain. Hopefully we hear back from Spain about the more indepth biopsy results this week. Mel’s parents have decided that they would join us on this vacation so if we can not go they will cancel their room and they may stay with Xavier. It is awesome that we have so many people that are willing to help out so that he can play. I told the manager that she can blame Xavier if they lose a game. I expect him to be able to carry the team. Traditionally he tends to step up in tournaments and he plays really well under pressure.
My taste buds are not completely back, but they are starting to come back and I am able to cook for the family again which is nice. It seems that my limit right now is 90 minutes, so I can do prep and cook for that amount of time. If It is more extended I need to make sure that I factor in breaks for cooking. I got to use my new Made In griddle today on the BBQ. It worked out well, but got super dirty with the cooking the meat and then had to clean it afterwardas. I tried scrubbing it and was using one of our cheap knives to scrap off the burnt parts off the carbon steel griddle to make sure it was completely smooth. I have a chainmail scrubber that I use for my cast iron and carbon steel pans, but I did not know where it was. Luckily Mel thought she knew and found it for me so then I used that to clean the rest. I had to scrub hard for about 15 minutes so I was tired. I am starting to figure out my new limitations and I am trying to push them as much as I can. I think the blood pressure pills are working and it is allowing me to do a bit more. I should be able to build up some muscles so my legs do not atrophy too much. I may try some light exercises to build muscles.
