I can definitely say now that I can not discern a pattern at all. After having dinner at approximately 6:30 or so I felt fine. I did not eat too much and 3 hours lately I have begun to feel a bit uncomfortable. My stomach has some gas and it is a warning sign of potential vomiting. If I can repeatedly dispel the gas quick enough than it holds it at bay. I made sure that I did not overeat and I even took a nap, so I am unsure of what triggers this. I had tested out a couple of popcorn kernels so I am not completely innocent in not eating, but the amount that I have eaten is less than 10 pieces of popcorn with 4 or 5 of them literally unpopped popcorn. The main trigger is the feeling of bloated in my stomach. If I can get through that part it is actually not bad. Sometimes drinking carbonated beverages helps out a bit so I have some orangina with luxardo cherries as my drink of choice. It is probably not the wisest choice but I enjoy it.
We won our two games today, 7 to 4 and then 7 to 1 with Xavier playing. He should have gotten a shutout but he messed up catching the puck on one shot. He said that he did not see the shot. Through out the game we played well and stopped everything. The parents on the team were saying that when he was catching the puck he did it non challantly making it all seem easy as if he was bored. Xavier was not happy with the goal he let in, even though everyone told him that he played well. He holds himself to a different standard and it was interesting to hear the parents name comments about how well he has been tracking the puck for the last 6 weeks. He has elevated his play lately and he has been focusing on doing all of the small things tomget better. After the physiotherapy session on Thursday he was given instructions on what he was supposed to do daily. He has been doing it and it will improve his flexibility over the next couple of months. The amusing thing is that he has no intention of trying to get drafted or playing junior hockey. He just enjoys playing and getting better. The goal is to have fun and excel, not the pursuit of anything more than that. This is the way that he had always been. Try and excel before stopping. Unfortunately in the morning game two kids got injured. One from each team. One of his friends on our team broke his collar bone while on the other team he had to be taken off the ice at the end of the game as a precaution for a back injury. He turned out all right, but it is a stark reminder that it is just a game and we need to be careful because injuries can happen so easily.
It amuses me how many people read this. Friends who I have not spoken to in awhile keep track of me via this and offer their support. I am grateful for all of the people that have joined me in this journey. Once things settle down a bit I will change over to weekly updates as hopefully things to well for me. If things come up then I will update more. In 9 days I will be meeting with my second oncologist and hopefully we have clarity on everything.
