I have now gone half a year cancer free and have an appointment with one of my doctors on Tuesday. It is an appointment that I do not expect too much drama as my latest scans for things have been discussed with some other doctors. The last time that I spoke with this doctor he told me he was surprised that I was working and that most people would be taking time off. Maybe if this was not Covid there would be more purpose, but right now with Covid getting worse there does not seem much point. I also know that I could not sit there and do nothing for such a lengthy time. He seems to think that there is an extremely high likelihood of the cancer coming back. So far it is going well. It has been 6 months with no relapse. This is around the time where I went in to get my stomach scoped and had my life changed for the year.
One day I would like to be able to have some get togethers again. At work we use to gather together and go hiking or have get togethers. Things have changed quite a bit with Covid over the last couple of years and this seems like the new norm. My cancer will now always be linked to Covid and I will always remember this time.
I enjoy cooking and today Xavier started learning how to cook. Melanie purchased a google book on cooking for kids and today he went through and made himself a series of recipes. I decided to get him to help with supper as well and he helped make tacos. He was responsible for cooking the meat. The other child with the complex palate thought they were the best tacos ever. The two boys are definitely my sons with their love of cooking and their love of eating. It is always interesting to see the quirks and traits of the parents in the kids. Xavier is always very helpful and will do what he is asked. He will always follow rules and authority. Olivier on the other hand will try to get out of everything if he can.
I have started shoveling again and it is something that I miss and enjoy. I have some difficulty with lifting the heavy snow and get fatigued, but it is getting better. For the last year, Xavier has willingly gone out to do it with Mel. Today the three of us shoveled the snow. The weather is going to get quite cold in the next couple of days and I do not think I want to have Xavier go out. He was cold when he had gone out earlier this week. When I go out I am super sensitive to the cold so I went out today layered in three jackets and I was quite warm. As my strength comes back I am starting to take on more responsibilities and things are getting back to normal now.
