It is remarkable how quickly things can turn. Today I thought that I was having a good day, some mild discomfort from the surgery and shifting of organs. I then took some hydromorphone and then after a couple of hours the side effects kicked in, with some dizziness and nausea. It is a bit surprising at I have taken it before without any major effects. This time though I had finished chemo and had drainage of close to 11.5lbs which impacted some things internally. I had a meeting and then came home and went straight to bed. It did not help much as I woke up still feeling a bit lightheaded and dizzy. The nurse came and changed my dressing and I was a bit cranky with them as they kept on pushing into the tenderness of the wound. On a good day without the surgery when I am drained it is tender, but with the tube and stitches, even more so. I can feel my tongue getting rough and it will impact my ability to eat for the next day or two. During this time I will drink the dreaded protein drinks because I will struggle to eat, bit I will suck it up. I do not feel awesome at the moment, but that is ok, things will get better.
On Tuesday they are scheduled to come and install the carpet and railing. We will need to order our new couches and some more furniture. Mel will spend a fortune this weekend as I am drugged up and will agree to anything. I am going to rest now because I am tired.
