Energy levels I have been able to manage and the key is to pace myself. I managed to cook dinner yesterday and today. Tomorrow is treatment day and I wanted to make a sandwich to bring along with me. The buns from Regency sat well so my plan was to buy some from there but I went far too late in the day and they were out. I did manage to find the Ukranian cabbage rolls from the church there so I bought some to have on hand. I then decided that I was going to go to Independent to buy some more groceries. While shopping I realized that there was something that I had meant to go buy, but the physical cost of going back for it was too high. When I got home I started chopping all of the ingredients I needed so I could rest before cooking. Mel eventually decided that she wanted to see the family and came home from work and I started making dinner. The noodles that we had wanted to use had some mold on it upon closer inspection so I had to alter our plans to use two different types of noodles. This involved cooking everything twice, which also required me to clean my wok inbetween the two times. I was quite tired afterwards and went to rest. Mel and I still had to go out to buy yogurt. The plan was to drive Xavier to his martial arts and then go, but after dinner he said he was not feeling well.
The coaches decided to talk with him today and they told him that it was not because of skill that he did not make the team and it was because the other two were in grade 12. Getting confirmation is amusing because most grade 10’s would be happy to just be on the team but he told the coaches he does not want to be 3rd string and he would not be on call to attend practices or games. He has a reputation for being able to steal games and the coaches have coached him in tournaments before where he kept them in while getting heavily outshot. This will end up saving us some money and we do not need to be at the rink as much which will allow him to go ski and work out to get bigger and stronger. Hopefully they clean up the basement a bit more soon so he can work out again. Tomorrow Mel is abandoning me during treatment as she has meetings and I just sleep. I am not going to have someone guard me now while I sleep. I will need to ask a volunteer if they can sit there and make sure no one approaches me without proper vetting. As long as they pay the required tithe I will acknowledge them. Mel charges a lot so no one wakes me. We will see how this goes tomorrow.

Today was the second time that i finished a Harvey’s Double Jr. Burger. The texture and taste of the burger sits well enough with me that it is not much of an issue. There are some fast food places that I know that I can eat without too much trouble and the fact that I can eat the whole burger fairly quickly is a good sign. Mel thought that the bites that I took were huge and she said that she knew where Xavier gets his eating habits. Last night after dinner he had one of the frozen PC Caribbean chicken dinners. He is a growing boy and eats a lot. This weekend we plan to make some proper jerk chicken for him. Mel does not understand that sometimes you need to eat quickly. Growing up during the Vietnam war, you never knew when they enemy would come so I had to learn to eat quickly. This extended to then coming to Canada and eating in our household and friends. The faster you ate, the faster you could go to the next meal at the next house. When Mel and I first started dating after dinner I would start thinking about second dinner and Mel’s mom would always question it. Sometimes the lessons you learn in the hot humid jungle of Vietnam stick with you a lifetime.
