This weekend has been nice and relaxing and I think that is why I have noticed the ascites build up a bit more. When I move I can feel pressure in my abdomen and I remember last year when I first had this and I just ignored it and it got worse and worse every day. This time I did not think it was that bad earlier in the week when I felt it, but it is getting worse now. Xavier makes fun of me because it results in me bending over more as I walk as it is rather uncomfortable if I walk with my back straight. I think that now I lack the presence I use to have when I was over 200 lbs. Back then my frame was much larger and I had more of a physical presence. Now I feel like that I tend to shrink into myself more as it is more comfortable for me. As the kids get older they can do much more. Xavier cooks on the BBQ for us a lot of the times now and he does quite a fine job of it. We still get into some arguments with Mel on how meat should be cooked. Xavier and I prefer rare while Mel likes it medium, so we tend to compromise and cook it medium, though sometimes he will cook it to rare and then we cook some pieces a bit more for Mel.
This morning we were supposed to make pancakes for breakfast but Mel slept in until 10:30 and the only reason she got up was because her mother called and the phone woke her up. She insisted that she was just resting and was up the whole time, but the snores say otherwise. By that time I had already had a couple of meals and did not want to start pancakes at that time so we aborted. I spent most of the morning doing some work and then took a nap in the afternoon as I did not feel great. I had a bit of a headache today for some reason. Olivier was looking forward to having some chocolate fondue after dinner, but Xavier wanted to go to an Escape room with his friends this evening, so we will drive him and hang out at Cocomango until he is ready. I think that they have a maxium of 1 hour to get out. My sister went home this morning, and we were supposed to go do an escape room with her. I am not sure how well I would handle it. I think I would be so annoyed if we did not get out in time or did not finish it. The first time I did it was with a group of people that have gone before and we were a group of pretty bright people and we finished it quite quickly. Afterwards I told the person in charge that I would have been pissed if we did not get out in time. I think I would be mostly annoyed by myself and would not necessarily blame others as I think I would be quite disappointed in myself first and foremost. Today I do not think that cognitively that I am in the proper mindset and ability to do it well though. I have too much lingering discomfort through my body right now to really be able to focus. Mel had mentioned that I have not had treatment for quite sometime so she is surprised that I have other symptoms now. That is the way things work though, it is not always easy to explain.
Something that I said that I was going to do and I think that I have fallen off of it is recognition for others for somthing that they helped me out with. This is something that I have always done with teams that I have led and I should do it here as well as it is quite easy to point out something that someone did to help me out. For example Mel cleaned up my empty bottles and garbage by my chair today. Though that was more for herself than me as she does not like a mess. She also likes to drop things of close to me that she thinks that I will use. When I need something from the basement either her or Xavier will get it for me so that I do not need to go up and down the stairs. You would think that it is not a big deal, but it is actually quite strenuous for me. I am going to see if Mel want to get a glass elevator in our house to be awesome even though I do not really need it, but I think that everyone wants a glass elevator in their home. Last year we used the garage for storage for all of the materials for renovations and that might happen again this year. It is easier when we can park the van in the garage, but we might not be able to do it this year. Last year I could also not shovel at all, but I think that if the snow is less than 1 inch thick that I will be able to shovel. I appreciate Xavier mowing the lawn and doing a lot of the lawn maintenance. Yesterday Mel and Xavier planted the second apple tree, so we are well on our way to building our fruit orchard. We have two apple trees, a current bush, a cherry tree, blueberries, kiwiberries, two types of grapes, wild strawberries raspberries, haskap berries and all of the other random vegetables. Xavier has reluctantly helped out with everything and hopefully everything survives and we should get fruit in 5 to 6 years. I think that next year she might want to plant some more fruits and eventually reduce the amount of area that needs to be mowed by Xavier. I would love to add a swim spa to the back, but we do not have the space anymore now that we have added the firepit and the pergola. Maybe we will renovate the washroom upstairs and we can add in a hot tub in there.
