July 28th – Encounter at Farpoint

Posted on 2026-07-282026-07-28 By Q No Comments on July 28th – Encounter at Farpoint

Working out last night left me fatigued and today my chest is sore and my legs are still sore. Another issue is that when I am fatigued i tend to lose sensation of when I need to pee. I woke up in the morning and realized that I had wet the bed even though I had on the depends as it leaked to the side. I think that this reinforces what I have seen in the past that when I need to be careful that I do not get too fatigued, otherwise I will sleep through things and will not realize that I need to go to the washroom. In these instances I should make sure that the bed has something down in case this occurs again. Tonight I will make sure I do as when I am in treatment it is far more of a pain to deal with something like this. On the bright side I have eaten quite a bit today and I even went to Burger King at lunch and bought a chicken sandwich combo as I had a coupon for it. I ate some of the fries on the drive, but made sure that I did not eat too much. When I got home I gave the fries to the kids. I knew that they would like them as they were hot and were seasoned well with salt. Olivier said that they were the best fries that he had. He wanted a bite of my sandwich and I gave him one. Previously both kids said that they did not like Burger King even though we never ate there before. I prefer Burger King to McDonalds because growing up it was within walking distance to our house so we would walk there when we were young. When we started driving and going out to bars at night we would stop there for a late night snack before going home. We were able to dine in and I think that at the time McDonald’s did not allow you to dine in. I had quite a few meals and snacks and even ate some of the protein that Xavier could not finish at dinner. I need to weigh myself and see how things are. Today is a rest day, but I think that tomorrow Xavier is going to make us work out again so we will see how that is. If he wants to work out legs then I might need to decline as my legs are still a bit fatigued today. Xavier forgot his water bottle when I dropped him off for his kickboxing and Jujitsu, but as it was close to Food Basics, I went and bought a case of Eska and gave him a couple of bottles. It was actually cheaper than buying a couple of single bottles.

I wanted to go see the Odyssey in the nicer seats and theatre before Spider-man takes over that spot. Olivier wants to come but Xavier does not as he thinks that the movie is too long. In Canada the movie is rated PG-13 while in the US the movie is rated R. There is no nudity or anything of that nature in the movie, the R rating is due to some language and the amount of violence and scary monsters. Olivier has played some violent games and he likes the song Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites so I figure that he should be able to handle it. As the movie is almost 3 hours we will go to the earlier showing. Mel wants me to make dinner earlier so we can go, but that would also require her to come home from work earleir so that we can eat and I am not sure if she will do that or not. We were going to have some steak, but I may need to change the menu because Xavier might have difficulty eating steak. I will decide later today if we will go see the movie or not.

In high school I started playing hockey and this is where I got my nickname Crack from. The nickname started from hockey as my friend who I played against thought that I was on crack because of the way that I played. I would attempt to score goals by firing the puck down the ice when I could and would skate out to play the puck. I would get run and hit often since I was so aggressive. Playing hockey when I first started a lot of the equipment I had was a bit small but I did not care, I got to play. The team had someone help coach the goalies which really helped and I learned quite a lot from him. There was a certain goalie stick that I loved to use by a brand that made a very specific stick. Back in the day the sticks were wooden and I would break quite a few sticks, going through about one a month. My favorite stick was light and it was a bit fragile, but it really helped me shoot. The stick was a Christian Curtis Curve. One of my favorite goalies at the time Andy Moog used the stick, and it was designed to make it easier to pick up off the ice if you dropped it. The design of the stick also allowed you to have a bit more leverage when shooting with the stick. I was able to easily shoot the puck all of the way down the ice with that stick and I had a harder shot than some of the players on my team with that stick. If I ordered the sticks in a bunch then I got a better deal. Since I broke so many sticks it was a much better deal to get a bunch. There use to be a hockey store right beside the arena and when I went there to buy my sticks, the person would always ask me if I paid taxes. As a child I did not know what that meant and would say yes. I did not realize that the intent was to determine if i was indigenous and was tax exempt. Growing up in Sudbury there were not a lot of minorities. In elementary school I was the clear minority as there were no others there. It was interesting growing up in that environment and I will tell some stories about it later this week.
