July 8th – Wither Blister Burn + Peel

When I was in Grade 6, Canada was holding the Winter Olympics and our school had decided to host our own games where the Grade 6 students would choose a nation and then we would choose our team based on the population at the school. It was a lot of fun and we had to create our own flag. My best friend and myself chose Canada. I can not remember if we had first pick or not, or how we managed to do it, but we soon regreted our choice as we had to hand make our flag and we had to draw a Maple Leaf and then we had to colour it in by hand using crayon. It sucked as we wanted to make sure it looked fantastic. A friend of ours who was the son of teacher involved and had absolutely had no Japanese heritage or knew anyone who was Japanese chose Japan as they had the easiest flag to make. A brilliant move on their part if you actually think about it. I can not remember the results of the competition, but I do remember splayed out on his floor colouring in our flag for hours and hours on end. I think that we did fairly well because I remember some of the kids on our team and they were quite athletic and the both of us were as well. I can not remember what events we had, but it was a lot of fun. The school did quite a lot to promote physical activity and a lot of different leadership opportunities. I remember a lot of the teachers that I had there fondly, but the school only went up to grade 6 and then we went to a different school for grades 7 & 8 where a lot of the smaller schools sent their students there.

Today I did quite a lot and was not too fatigued,  I had to drive Mel to work as last night we had dropped off the vehicle to get some things done to it. She was going to get picked up so it was more convenient to do it that way. Driving her this morning was not too bad and I got back fairly early. My body feels a bit fatigued today and my head is a bit hazy but not too much that I can not do some work. I had to go pick up some things for dinner and I got Xavier to go with me in case I was too weak. I decided to bring the wheelchair, but at first I did not think that I needed it. We went to the small No Frills by Costco first to pick up some bread and a tomatoe. If you have been to that store you know that it is not too far into the store. I was actually pretty fatigued after that and then decided it would be best if I used the wheelchair in Costco. We proceeded to go in and got some chicken breast and I tried to buy a computer, but they did not have it in stock and the price increased by $200. I should have ordered it online a couple of days ago before the price jumped. The lineup in the store was ridiculous and went all the way to where the gift cards were. It seems that when I go with Xavier the lineup is crazy. A trip that should have taken minutes took about 20 minutes. We paid for our things and Xaview threw out the receipt and I asked him was this his first time in Costco, we needed the receipt to get out. The garbage was right next to the self checkout and he was not thinking. He got it and we went out and then he threw it out right away. I managed to eat fairly well all day. I was up at 4am so I ate then, and had enough meals throughout the day. I will eat some more later tonight as well. I am still a bit tired and it seems that the neuropathy is getting better. My weight is at 137 lbs which is fine, when the supportive care team called me I asked to schedule an ascites drainage next week so right now it is tentatively scheduled for Thursday. Hopefully my CT scans get read quickly and we can see what the results are. I have an appointment with my oncologist next Wednesday so it should be ready by then. I am curious on what the results show as things have been rather odd. I have felt better this week than before and each treatment cycle after I get through the initial couple of days I seem to be improving. Hoepfully this trend continues as it would indicate the treatments have been positive in keeping things at bay.
