I started off this morning taking 4mg of my steroid to help things out with fatigue today and I am not sure if it helped or not, but I was able to eat more food today when I do eat. I am careful about the amount that I eat especially when we are out and about all day but i think I did well enough today. I ate an egg ,half a toast, 60% of my peameal and some hash browns and i was ok afterward. At lunch I ate a decent amount and i was comfortable. Mel thinks that the steroids are doing well today as my energy seems to be doing well. She thinks that I look half dead by the end of the day but I also took a nap in the middle of the afternoon. I had the needle injection this afternoon and that went off without a hitch. Last night Mel and I started doing exercises to help with recover when I need to start my PIPAC treatment and they are fairly simple and easy enough to do. I am still fatigued a bit and need to make sure that I constantly eat. Drinking cold drinks are still not super pleasant for me but it is manageable.
We ended up winning our first game this morning 7 to 1 and lost a narrow second game 3 to 2. Their goalie was outstanding and kept them in the game. Xavier made some mistakes that he was not happy with but he played aggressive and without hesitation. He raced a kid out to the blue line to poke check away a potential breakaway. It was nice to see him so committed. When he makes a mistake he tends to play the puck more and be overly aggressive to make sure he is in the game. There was a lull in gameplay when he had 2 goals scored on him in the second period. He got scored on a breakaway which he was stopping most of prior to that. Second goal was a fluke shot that he deflected into his net. His last goal he said he did not see the shot and it went over his glove. Overall the team played well and he gave them an opportunity to win with his play. He will need to step up his game tomorrow. Xavier has a lot of drive and wants to win so we may be able to sneak our way into the semifinals.
Mel’s great aunt reached out this morning to send us some money to help treat us for this trip. We appreciate all of the love that we get from everyone and how caring people are. Mel’s aunt and uncle came down from Kapuskasing to watch and treated us to breakfast and lunch as well, so as a whole we had a lot of assistance and we were able to spend quality time with family members. Mel and Xavier hung out with them in the lobby while I napped. People wonder if I I have trouble napping and I can sleep quite easily. The key is to just decide that you want to sleep and it will magically happen. So far this trip has progressed fairly well which is reassuring for when we go to Spain. I think that we will still take the the wheelchair to make sure that we are comfortable when traveling through the airport. Mentally I am a bit fatigued and it is a bit difficult to write as I am beginning to feel tired.
