Things are relatively back to normal now as I wait for my next round of treatment. On days like this when there is normalcy, you forget the days that are hard, but I can also see why you need that one week of recovery after the 3rd week now though. If the trade-off is that instead of 1 or 2 bad days on the third week, it is now 3-4 days, but the end results are overall better than it is not too bad. The neuropathy as a whole is much better and I can function with cold things, but the tingling sensation is always there now. I need to constantly warm up my hands and then it is not much of an issue at all. We have purchased a lot of small heaters for the house and while the rest of the house is set to 22 degree it seems extremely cold to me in the house. If you touch my hands they feel cold all of the time. Olivier loves it as he can absorb my coldness and I can absorb his warmth as he tends to run on the hot side. After the debacle of last weekend my new baseline weight is 137lbs. Once I am above the 146lb range where the gain is rapid hten it will be time to get drained again. I am going to try and make sure that I have enough soups and things like that ready for my meals in the third week. It seems that the soup diet is the best option, but I will need to figure out which soups to try out. It has been an interesting couple of weeks as food that I thought were safe are no longer safe. My vision keeps on changing where things are blurry and then it goes away, I am not sure exactly what is causing it, but it comes and goes during the day time.
Last week there was something interesting that happened. Mel received a random text in the day time telling us that Xavier had a secret girlfriend for months and that the random text said that the girl was upset that the relationship was secret. They called as well a couple of hours later and Mel did not answer. She told me and we decded that we would talk to him first before responding. I would have answered thank you for telling me, he will now be disowned and kicked out of the house. As an Asian child his focus should be on his education and he can not date until he is finished school and started two businesses, But the girl texted Mel and not me. At the end of the day we asked him and he did not deny it, but I have told him repeatedly that i did not care if he told us or not if he was dating or not. He is quite tight lipped about all of i and did not share much. His girlriend had told him what had happened and he said that she was not upset about it and tat the friend was just being dramatic. I can see that the friend could be doing it with good intentions, but now that Xavier has been kicked out of the house I am not sure where he is going to live. i asked him what her name was and was really hoping it was Mackenzie and then if they got married it would be Mack Mach, what Mel had wanted to name our child. Getting her name was like pulling teeth. Last night he had a game and there were quite a few girls there. What we were not aware or though was whether she was there or not. Her mother dropped her off and stayed around to watch a bit and in the Azilda arena there is a section that is warmed and that is where we were sitting, She was standing for a bit and then decided to sit between Mel and I in an empty spot. All of this was happening during warmups and i turned and asked her which of the kids was hers as i did not meet all of the parents. She informed me that her daughter was there to watch her boyfriend. I then asked which was her boyfriend and she replied the goalie, and then I told her that I was the goalie’s dad and then told Mel about it. We chatted with her throughout the game and learned quite a bit from her. There were some weird discrepancies during the last couple of months where he was evasive with his answers and it turns out it was because he was doing things with her. Both of them are quite shy but they text and chat all of the time apparently. They know a lot about our family compared to what we know about them. She lives in Capreol and attends Bishop Alexander Carter and they met during cross country and tracl last year. Xavier and her mom said that she is not athletic though and that she focuses a lot of academics. I always thought that his preference would be for someone athletic to do all of the things that he likes to do. While driving home last night we did comment that there is no way that he would not go for an intelligent girl. He likes to have conversations that you need to have some knowledge in and are not completely mindless. The best part is if you mention her at all he will redirect the coversaton and spend the rest of the time talking about anything else. When Olivier found out he teased his brother and he seemed incrdiulous.
When Mel and Xavir were in the vehicle, Mel had asled Xavier if he was daft and he did not recognize the word and said that no one used it. Mel said that I use to say it all of the time. When I was teaching at Laurentian I would say it when talking with the students, I would say are you daft child. I had forgotten about it as I tend not to see that type of behaviour as much now. I am not sure how much opportunity i will have now to use that phrasing.
