Yesterday was a bit of a rough night. Our floor was quite loud with parents spending time congregating in the hallways instead of within the tiny rooms. It was a bit annoying and we eventually called down and someone came up to tell them to stop. The noise stopped for a bit and then came back. With my injection and higher dosage of steroids it seemed to impact my sleep, but not in a great way. I ended up with slight bladder control issues a couple of times and we had to get the bed changed today. I am not sure what the cause of this is and think it may be due to increased fatigue from all of the running around. We will make sure that we bring some with us just in case. It makes a mess and is a pain to deal with. Eating has not been an issue nor has drinking and staying hydrated. I have managed to make sure that my hands and feet are sufficiently hydrated with cream and are not dry. Mouth wash has been done even while traveling. Cold beverages are still difficult to drink as it is like pin pricks as I swallow. It is not super pleasant to drink as it is quite uncomfortable. The rash on my chest is better so I suspect it was from the adhesive. We will ask them to use this other one this time as well. For lunch we had charcuterie and random snacks in the hotel room and the team ended up ordering in dinner from East Side. I managed to eat ok but did not feel very good afterwards. I am not sure exactly why and came up stairs to rest. It may be due to everything that happened in the last two days. The more that happens the more likely I think it is a smart idea to bring the wheelchair with us and I am not going to really fight it.
We ended the tournament with a decent record. We needed an upset win this morning and came close. We were severely outshot and it gives the impression that the game is closer than it is when Xavier plays well. For the most part he was boring and did not make dramatic saves. He let in a couple of goals that he believes that he should have had and it would have given them the opportunity to steal the win. It would have been quite the longshot but it was doable if he would have made a few less mistakes. I appreciate that when he does get scored on during a 5 on 3 and he is screened he does not blame his team. His reply was he was screened and he has difficulty tracking the puck through the players. The other than is actively trying to make it so you can not see, and your defenceman is doing the best that they can to move them. Everyone has their job and is trying their best and as long as he focuses on what he is supposed to it does not bother me as much. He said he lost both games but they also put him in against the two hardest games that play in a division higher than ours. Overall he played well but was not flawless both games and he had to be. I was proud of his aggression and his lack of hesitation when playing the puck. He played it frequently and made the proper choice when he came out. There were a couple of times he could have played it a bit more but I was quite happy with the amount of times he went out to play the puck. He is a great stick handler and has a great shot so he should play it every time they dump it in. He is still a bit hesitant and allows his team to go get it and it goes around. He has realized that he is fast enough to stop it assess the situation and make the right call. A player tried hitting him a couple of instances and he knocked him down once. The kid was half of his size and even a kid his own size he could handle as he is quite strong. He has kept up his streak of winning an MVP award at each tournament he has played at but I am a bit annoyed that he came so close to stealing a game and came up just short. A couple of unlucky instances but for the most part an acceptable effort.
Everyone is starting to get excited about going to Spain and Mel is starting to look up the airport and ask the information. We try to know where we are going prior to arriving. We also want to spend relaxing time in the lounge prior to boarding. The spreadsheets and planning will start and we will make sure everything is spread out across all the luggage in the event that something happens to one. I will pay for roaming fees as i get a lot of calls from the hospital and doctors for appointments. Mel and Xavier will get data plans on an esim and we can all chat via WhatsApp. The only one without communication is Olivier but he has his watch that works every where. Everyone is looking up things that they want to do or go see. I just tagged restaurants and did not look at anything else. Xavier wants to go to a church as well and look at some cool buildings and be active. Olivier will probably want to find hidden gems of some sort. Once we start to know more Mel will start to fill out an itinerary of what to do. I want to eat some fresh razor clams as they are delicious and this is the place to get th. Olivier is only so so on seafood so we will need to provide other options for him as well. I do believe he will like a lot of the other foods though. I am tired and will be going to bed soon. I took a nap already but I think my body is exhausted. I have protective undergarments for tonight and hopefully I do not need them.
