Xavier had a game yesterday and the team as a whole did not play well. People think that I am tough on Xavier, but Mel is just as bad if not worse, which amuses me a bit. He did not play horrible, but he did not live up to the standard that we have for him. The first goal he said he did not see through the screens, second goal his defense tipped it in and the third goal he let in was through the five hole in a 1:1 situation. He does not blame anyone for these goals and in his mind it is not an excuse to let those in. Mel holds him to the same standard and the way that she saw the game was that he had to play above average to give them an opportunity to win those games. Her assessment of him is brutal at times and it is entertaining. At the end of the first period he had let in 1 goal on 11 shots and we were tied 1 to 1. Our team was not playing well as a whole but Mel expects our son to be better. It is refreshing to hear her never blame another kid for any goal Xavier let in, even when scored by our own team. As a goalie his job is simple. Stop the puck and give your team an opportunity to win. Nothing more and nothing less. Control what you can and do not worry about the rest. If the team plays like they did last night we will struggle at the Tournament of Champions.
Today is pi day and we have no pie. I am not much of a pie baker but I should have thought of this and purchased a pie. Mel has to go out today so perhaps I will get her to grab some when she is out shopping. I decided to try out a new banh mi bread recipe today and so far from what I have seen I am not a big fan of this bread recipe but maybe it will turn out ok. I feel that the hydration levels of the bread are lower than what I would want in my bread. The bread is proofing now and I will see how it turns out ok a while. Olivier did not want to help with the first steps but he will want to help out with the scoring of the bread.
So far this year I have loved having the Olympics on for my 3 or 4am feeding and this weekend the Chinese Grand Prix is happening so I have watched qualifying and the sprints. It has been fantastic. Get up to eat a quick snack, watch for a bit and then go bed. I never have issues sleeping and having 4 or 5 hours of sleep is fine. I know I am not feeling well when I sleep more than 8 hours a night. It is wonderful to have those things on at those times.
Since being drained something interesting has occurred daily. The vomiting has come back but it is quite weird because it is just mucous again and I am not sure what the cause is. Sometimes when I eat there is like a burning sensation down my throat, but the stomach seems fine and i am not over eating. I have yet to figure out the exact cause of this and will need to monitor the situation.
