I arrived at the hospital early for my appointment and started to walk towards the tower that I was told to attend. I aborted as it did not seem right and went to where I normally go. Once I arrived there, the registration clerk told me that I was really early for my appointment, but I told her that I was not sure if I had to drink fluid prior as it takes an hour. I know a lot of the people in the department so it is nice to see a familiar face. They had to stick an IV in and I went almost immediately in for my scan. It was rather uneventful and I left fairly quickly.
I had planned to make dumplings for the kids and thought that it was going to take a while. We had bought some from Costco, and they come in packs of 6 and you steam them in the microwave. I made a bunch for the kids and they loved them and requested that we buy more as they are good for quick snacks. The kids were all excited for Mel to come home and Olivier made sure to end calls with his friends so he could greet his mother when she arrived home. He shared that his substitute teach that he currently has right now is retiring and that he wanted to get her a gift. He figured that he should get her a gift card since that seemed suitable. I appreciate that his first thought when he heard she was retiring was that he should get her a gift and he chose a gift card from Tim Hortons. We let him choose how much and he had an idea on what to give and even came out with a plan on when to go get it. Tim Horton’s was dead at the hospital last night so I picked one up for him.
The kids had a haircut appointment today and I picked Olivier up at school and got Xavier as he was walking home. I then proceeded to go home to make dinner as Xavier has a game tonight. We bought new knives and they are sharp. I managed to slice my finger and was bleeding profusely. I went through several bandaids and if I do not apply pressure it would bleed through the bandaids. I called Mel when she was coming home and she said soon. She told me what I should do, so clearly I kept on cooking with one hand while holding the other hand all bandaged up. She finally came home and she used steristrips to stop the bleeding. We wrapped it in gauze and then bandages. I have been wearing a latex glove over as well in case it bleeds through. This is going to impact me for tomorrow cooking I think.
On the bright side today has been a good day for caloric intake and keeping all my food down. At his point of the day I think it is safe to say I will be 2 days without vomiting. At dinner I was about to have another bite of food and decided against it and threw it out. It is safer then eating too much. Energy levels have been good and I can drive without too much difficulty as well as concentrate throughout the day. Tomorrow will be busy so we will see what happens then.
