Mel and I always try to support local companies and we have quite a good relationship with a lot where they know us by name. Last night they did not end up towing the truck and dropped if off this morning in a less than ideal location blocking in my sister-in-law’s vehicle. I unfortunately do not get my vehicles towed often so we do not have any connections there. We were supposed to pick up the the skiis that we purchased for Olivier last week, but Mel had appointments and would have arrived right ad closing. I texted the store and they offered to bring us the skiis for tomorrow so Mel did not have to rush. It is little things like this that you get from local stores. Our kids could walk into the local stores that we frequent often and they could buy whatever they want without having to carry any cash as the stores would trust that I would pay later. It is a nice option to have as they know that our boys are well behaved and would not be stupid enough to buy something without permission. In the event that they did they also know I would pay.
Community is important, especially in a small city like Sudbury where everyone knows each other. It is important to be nice to everyone as you never know when you may run into them again. Everyone is interconnected here. When I had worked at at Vale people were always surprised at how many people that I knew there. This continued at Glencore as well. As I am starting to get back into the routines of work I am no longer experiencing the fatigue that I had last week. I have also managed to eat well today without any major issues. The frequency of my eating today is not as high as it was previously but it was high in protein. As it snowed through out the day and there was no one here to shovel, I had to. When there was an inch of snow on the driveway I would go out and shovel. By doing this it was manageable and I would be able to do it in 5 minutes and it is light enough that I can manage. Though now at the end of the day I think I may regret it. I am rather tired now. I received a call from the physiotherapist from the hospital today and we discussed what I had wanted to do. I mentioned that I had wanted to gain weight but the issue is that I can not increase my caloric intake if I am more active. I stumped her as we need to monitor my intake so she is going to talk to the dietician to figure out what strategy we can use. It always amuses me when I can manage to make things more difficult for the medical staff.
I have not taken any of the nausea pills today and it seems to be ok. I have not felt the need to take any as I have felt pretty good for most of the day. The redness on my stomach is decreasing and it seems to be getting better since I have been applying the cream. There was a bit of discomfort from my abdomen from shoveling but that is due to straining my core as opposed to where the incision was. The pain is in the muscles around the radiation as opposed to the radiation areas. I suspect that I am going to lose weight in the next couple of days as my activity has increased. Hopefully my metabolism increases and I can eat more food. That is the strategy I am trying now.
