This is the first week prior to my treatment and I have seemed to confirm that I can not eat as much in the morning right now. It seems that my intake in the morning is less than it was prior to radiation. As the day progresses however it does get better. It seems however that my eating is digressing a bit which concerns me a bit. I can not eat as much as I did in the previous couple of weeks. My stomach seems to get physically filled more quickly right now and I am unable to push eating too much. It is not very pleasant. When I have been vomiting it is mostly mucous. I have spoken to my dietician about it and she did not seem overly concerned as this is why we have the nausea pills. Right now it seems that there is quite the delay to me throwing up. So far when I have vomited, it has occurred about 45 minutes after I am done eating. I suspect that for whatever reason my stomach is creating mucous to help digest the food but the issue is that there does not seem to be enough room or it is not passing through the stomach fast enough.
The hospital is atrocious for actually telling me when my appointments are. My dietitian had said that I had some appointments booked so I asked her about them. I found out that I have a CT scan scheduled for next week and an appointment with my oncologist on Feb 2nd. It would be nice to be informed of this and it is weird that there is such a delay in telling me when it is in the system. I am not sure what causes this issue. If there is a blockage in my stomach and that is causing me to vomit, hopefully they can tell from the CT scans and I can discuss that with my oncologists. If that is the case then it is not necessarily good news as it would suggest that the lining of my stomach that creates mucous has cancer. That is worse case scenario though and I am pretty sure that my vomiting is due to me overeating over anything else. It is quite the fine line for me being ok and too much and I think that today I was just on the wrong side of it. My weight is increasing and I want to start doing some more physical activity. That will require me to eat more. Other than those issues though I feel fine. Fatigue was manageable today and things were going well. I went to the pharmacy to pick up some creams. My pharmacist prescribed me one thing to help and it is covered under the drug plan as well as the Glaxo base. They seem to help as it prevented the irritation that I normally get with my shirt pressed against it. Unfortunately as I tried to leave, the truck would not start. The battery is fine as we did change it fairly recently and all of the lights inside the truck seemed fine. We suspect it is the starter.
Luckily I have quite a few people that are willing to help me out. A colleague of mine offered to have his onsite mechanics fix the truck as the company shop. I am not sure how I felt about that as I felt like I am taking advantage of a situation as I am not sure how long it will take to fix it. My brother-in-law is a mechanic and he will fix the vehicle when he gets a chance. Normally not having the truck would be an issue. This is the first time that we have driven it in at least 2 or 3 weeks. Mel was the last one to drive it and I think she went to the dump with it a while ago. When I first started driving, the tires were flat and I had to add air so I could drive it. I put in just enough to get to where I wanted and did not fill them completely. This week we have a bunch of events that we would need a couple of vehicles. Since the truck is out for a bit I think that the only logical choice is for me to rent a limo for the couple of days that I do not have a vehicle. Or Mel can use it as well to avoid parking downtown. Either way I think it would be a great use of funds. I need to go to Tarini’s to buy some meat, we need to pick up skiis at the Outside store and the kids have events at the same time, swimming and hockey. Spending a couple of thousand dollars for all day limo service seems like the logical choice for 1 hour of known service. Either that or we can buy a nice family car like the Lotus Evija or McLaren P1.
Since I will be stuck at home for the next couple of days I can better monitor my food intake and ensure that I eat the appropriate amount and drink enough fluids consistently. I think my goal tomorrow will be not to vomit while maintaining my intake. Sounds simple enough.
