This is the first day post treatment and it is expected that the effects will last for another two weeks. Even though I knew that the impacts of radiation are cumulative I figured that I had it quite mastered. Boy was I wrong about that. I have a lot of patience for when people are new and learning new things, but I have no patience for myself and expect excellence. I seem to be struggling with my learning and keep on eating and drinking too close to each other. Today I have yet to take any of my medication, but from what I can tell it is ok. I still get some fatigue over the course of the day and there are still times where I do not feel great and need to lie down. Hopefully this gets better next week and I can keep food down. I still have a significant amount of redness on my stomach and it looks like a really bad sunburn.
The good news is that I am slowly increasing my weight. It seems that it takes a couple of days for me to stabilize and then go up on weight. I drop weight over the weekend when we are busier and have lots of things to do. This weekend we will be gone for hockey as well and I should make sure that I pack some food for travel that I can eat at the arenas and while driving. We are only there for one game and back home so it should not be too bad. I have some sensitivity with clothing touching my abdomen. As long as I have loose fitting clothing it is not too bad.
Cognitively today I feel a bit slower still, like I have a mental fogginess when I try and think. My processing is a bit slower today and I need to take a moment or two and organize my thoughts instead of having the information pop up instantly in my head. It may be due to fatigue that should decrease by next week. The next 4 weekends are busy with at least 2 or 3 games per weekend with a tournament in the first week of February.
