We have been gone for 4 days now and I remembered to take my nausea pills in the morning. Of course that would have been too easy if I did everything right. I need to make sure that I drink enough fluids and that is a very fine line. The issue with fluids is that the impact is delayed. It takes about 15 minutes before I get to the point where I know I had too much. I ate this morning in the vehicle and arriving at the hotel I drank a bit after. No issues there. I then started drinking more. I had a milk tea with grass jelly and that is when it hit me with my limits. There is sugar in the drink and I need to monitor it now carefully. It is a bit of a battle waiting for my stomach to settle down and my position makes a huge impact. Sometimes I need to sit a certain way, walk or do anything different.
The one good thing so far is that my energy levels seem to be ok. I have not had much issues with fatigue by the end of the day, but I also do not socialize with anyone and I rest in the hotel room. I do talk with the parents before and after the game. I enjoy interacting with them and hopefully by the next tournament I will be better and have more energy. It seems that energy wise I am better, but I am a bit concerned with food intake volume. I have been going with smaller volumes, but still need to push at the right times to expand my stomach. Certain food seems easier to handle then others and I have not cracked that formula yet.
Xavier is playing well this tournament and had a shut out this morning. We have a chance to advance to play on Sunday and it would be nice for the kids if we could. It would mean that we need to change up our plans for tomorrow though. I think that if we made it to the finals that I would be fatigued. Mel will monitor my levels quite diligently tomorrow if that happens. We would then be driving home from Ottawa around 6pm, so would arrive home quite late. The kids will get the day off if that happens. We won our game this afternoon and we have a chance to advance tomorrow but we need some luck. There is now realistically only one scenario that needs to play out and then we will advance. We are tied in the standings with a team but they have 1 game in hand. If they lose then we will be ahead of them and make it into the quarter finals.
Venturing out to Ikea after the hockey game, Mel made the kids and myself wait in an area while she went gallivanting through the store to pick some things up. I am not sure if I would have been able to do it as I was getting fatigued and had difficulty pushing the cart around the store. There is quite a bit of pressure on your core muscles to move a cart around it seems and it was quite uncomfortable. I have been snacking a bit throughout the evening and at dinner I had a small amount of food. I made sure that I was not overly full but I realized I felt a bit uncomfortable and remembered that I had yet to take any medication. After I took a pill I felt much better and I should be ready to eat again relatively soon. I think my recovery is going fairly well and perhaps in early April I will be able to go skiing if things progress well. I need to figure out how to expand my stomach and increase my caloric intake by then though. If I can hit 150 by then it might be safe for me to try.
