Yesterday I had my appointment to discuss nutrition and diet and it was actually quite a lot longer than I had anticipated it would be. She had remembered me from the first time that I had gone through treatment. It was evident that she had pressure to see me as soon as she could as when I mentioned some people that I knew, she smiled and said that explains things. She acknowledged that every thing that we were doing was right and gave some ideas on some things that we could try. She recommended some medication to help with motility and we will see if that helps. She also recommended some higher caloric drinks that we will try as well. I am not fond of the texture though so I am going to try and turn it into ice cream and see how I like that texture. Last week the Ninja Creami was on sale, but I have seen quite a few complaints about it so I might just purchase a regular ice cream maker. I think we will just freeze it to start and see how well I can tolerate that as a treat at first. While we were leaving and we were chatting and we realized that one of Xavier’s coaches at Notre Dame is a friend of hers. Sudbury is such a small community and everyone is interconnected. We had a brief discussion about hockey and athletics.I also received a call yesterday informing me to get ready for my prep session on Wednesday to get things setup for me to start radiation on Thursday. I was a bit confused and just went with it but texted my friend. I asked did we decide against surgery, and he said that this was just in case we were not going to do surgery we could start right away. I appreciate everything that people do in the background for me. On Wednesday I have the appointment with the surgeon and then a couple of hours afterwards I have prep for radiation.Xavier has NOSSA X-country that day and initially I was going to drive him that day. With my appointments I will not be able to and Mel wants to attend these appointments with me. Xavier managed to convince his grandparents to drive him. Another kid on the team is going with their grandparents as well and would have driven him if he had not arranged his own ride. I am grateful for everyone that is willing to help out and know that we will need people to help out with things as we progress. We have a road trip today for a hockey game and we need to figure out different snacks that I can take with us on the road when we travel. Mel will also drive for some of these trips so I can focus on eating in the vehicle. They have these lunch warmers that I want to purchase from Costco. Mel did not want me to buy it initially but she has come around now. They would be better if they were battery operated though.
