I had arrived at 1:42 for my 2:15 appointment and when I saw the state of the registration area I was a bit concerned. They were at number 55 and I had number 73 with 2 of the slower clerks working today. At 2:00 they were at number 68 and I thought that I might just make it. 2:10 rolls around and they have not registered anymore people. To make things worse, someone went up and asked them a question that took 5 minutes. Eventually at 2:25 they were at 71 and then I decided to text a friend so that she could tell them that I was there and had just not been able to register yet. It was such a debacle. I ended up giving my number to the old couple across from me as I was far ahead of them. When I saw the oncologist he mentioned his bad it is sometimes and how they use to go get the patients and then register afterwards but he got in trouble for that. We discussed patient navigators and I volunteered to help out with patient advocacy to his boss, which is a friend of mine. When I first showed up for my appointment, the spots were pretty full and the vehicle next to me gave me their parking ticket as it had 75 minutes left which should have been more than enough. I do that at times and I appreciate the kindness that they had shown me. The plan now is to go through 2 more cycles and then I will take a break and see what happens. I will also have another CT scan in December to see if things have changed up much to see if this treatment is effective or not. The ascites build up is way faster but then it slows down and ramps up again. I have gained 3 pounds in the last couple of days which I think is fluid build up. Tomorrow morning, bright and early I will go in for my bloodwork before it gets too crazy in there and then come home. Once we get the CT results back we can evaluate whether it is a good time to go back to Spain now or not.

We still have not heard back from the people for Xavier’s BJJ competition, but it is looking that there will most likely not be anyone in his weight class for him to fight against. If they combine classes then we will go down otherwise we will revise our reservation and go to Ikea to buy some flat boxes so we can start to furnish our home. We will need Xavier’s help loading some of this up as I do not think that between Mel, myself and Olivier I will be able to. I bought toe warmers from Costco and they work fantastic, as well as a portable heating pad and I think that I will need to get some body warmers as well. I will need them in the bedroom because Mel and Olivier like the room so damn cold. Th oncologist suggested I buy myself a house next door so that I can keep the house at the proper temperature of 28 degrees. Regardless I am getting myself prepared for this winter coming up.

Q

I had my oncologist appointment today and I do not like being late, so generally I make sure that I have ample time to register prior to my appointment.
