The sleeping pill worked wonders as I got up this morning around 6:30 because I had to go to the washroom. On the bright side I got up because I knew that I had to go to the washroom. I was not too tired and went about my day. It seemed to go by fairly quickly and I was not too fatigued. The boys and I took the truck for a Costco run to pick up some food for this weekend and for dinner tonight. I ended up bringing the wheelchair because I had a colleague who was there and said it was packed and I did not want to have to stand around for too long. Afterward we went to Booster Juice where my beloved orange sicle is back so I ordered one of those. Overall the day has been pretty good and my vision today is back to normal. I am curious on when it is going to start to get blurry again. I am not sure if the chemo drugs are improving it or not now. Xavier’s goalie pads arrived today so we went to go pick them up, but he is not going to wear them for a while. I normally pre-order his new toe ties as he tends to cut through the stock ones quickly so I buy him custom armored ones. They will be arriving in a couple of weeks. It is insane to think that he has bought brand new pads every year for the last 7 years, and this is his 5th set of custom pads with his current size 35″+2″ rise. We had thought that the ones that he had last year would have lasted a couple of years. They did not. Most of the goalies in the NHL wear pads between 34 and 36 inch. This is the first time that he has had a 2″ rise at the top so we will see how well he adjusts to that as in the past he has only had a 1″ and we jumped up there as well.

This evening Mel thought that I am doing much better than any other Friday and that I look more lively. I would tend to agree with her as this this time I actually got a full night of sleep instead of just sleeping a couple of hours and then working a full day. I had a lot of various things to catch up on today and I have not been too busy with all of that. Energy wise I feel fine, but tonight I am not going to take a sleeping pill and see what happens. The steroid takes 36 to 48 hours to leave the system, but the second day was never as bad as the first day so hopefully I can get over it fairly easily. Tomorrow we are planning on going out to Halfway Lake for a part of the day, so we will stop at Tarini’s and grab some meat on our way out there. I think that I should be ok as we will probably be only out there for a bout 7 hours as Xavier does not want to stay out too late as he has 7am ice time on both Saturday and Sunday. There is starting to be more drama about where he is going to end up playing this year as more options are opening up, but he kind of knows where he wants to play and we are going to leave that decision up to him. It is not Mel’s ideal choice but that is ok, we will manage.

When things work out the chemo treatments do not bother me too much and I wonder why did I worry so much about this. I think that this is an indicator that I should seek help out more instead of trying to tough it out, but it is difficult at times because I am not always sure if it is something that can be helped. Right now I am having an easy time, but I had also thought the same thing before. We will see how things go after the second and third treatment and better understand if it is a cumulative effect. I have a CT scan next week at night so I will ask to have a powerport installed or see if I can go early in the morning for the CT scan with the port tube installed. The other option is just for me to leave the port tube in and then have either CT pull the tube out after or go the next morning to the cancer center to get the port tube removed. Either way we will figure it out.

QHM

I ended up going to bed at approximately 12:20 last night after I took the sleeping pill at midnight.
