Everyone slept in this morning except for me. I got up this morning and made French Toast with the brioche bread that Olivier and I bought on Saturday, some breakfast sausages and a peach compote to go with the french toast. We ate around 10am and the only other thing that we had planned for today was to go to Imagine theatre to watch Spider-Man in the reclining seats. Those seats are wonderful but service there was not amazing. They started the movie 30 minutes late and only after lots of people went to complain and ask about it. While the movie was playing someone came in and apologized. No one said anything while we were waiting or gave us any updates. It seems that they came in when they knew that we would not be able to hear them. Overall the movie was great and it was nice to be able to recline in those seats. In the future I think that I would bring a blanket to make it even more cozy. Since the movie started so late it messed up the timing for things as the movie was supposed to start at 1, but did not until a bit after 1:30. We picked up some popcorn chicken and potatoe wedges for a pre-dinner snack before we went to my parents. The kids keep on forgetting to turn on the fan when they shower and then complain about the humidity, so we bought a sensor that will automatically turn it on for them. That involved a stop at Home Depot prior to our dinner. I walked through the store and I have to say that after my morning and walking at Home Depot, my legs are even worse now then they were this morning. It feels different from when you work out though. When your legs are tired from a work out you can feel the fatigue, but your muscles are sore and when you move them you can really notice. The difference is that I am sitting and non moving at all and I can feel the bones in my legs and the muscles. My bones are screaming at my body that it is too much and the soreness is all the way to the bone. The sensation is that my frame can not support the weight of moving so I need to sit down. The fatigue is not just in the muscles, but within the bones themselves. I feel it in my hips, my knees and the ligaments that surround the bones. I need to push myself a bit each day though to strengthen my muscles, even though walking today is quite tiring. The neuropathy in my hands are getting better while it is getting worse in my feet. It may be due to increased movement as it gets tingly when I walk a lot. There is no pain, just tingling sensation and besides that there are no side effects. A lot of my symptoms beside the neuropathy are self-inflicted though as I follow Xavier’s directive of “Be Better”. My legs would not be so fatigued if I did not push myself to go up and downstairs and walk longer distances. I am going to miss the first game of the tournament this weekend as I have treatment at the same time and I will arrive for his second game. I will need to make sure that others take care of everything for the team prior.

As a child growing up, I remember that we spent a lot of time walking around to places. We would shop and be required to carry multiple bags back to the car and this would happen repeatedly until there was no more room left in the vehicle. I would think that this would prepare me for now when I need to walk, but apparently it has not. My sister now will walk 10km in a day as it is nothing from her place in High Park downtown. She is in far greater shape now then I am. As children growing up her worst marks were in gym, and when my parents saw her grades in that class they did not care. I am not sure if gym was marked the same way for her as it was for us, but it was a joke. You had to show athletic ability in various activities or sports. It is unfair because if you have a proclivity to that sport you would get an A+. My friends and I would get great grades but someone who tried their hardest and improved may not score as high. In Xavier’s hockey program he was graded on his skating ability as a goalie. He wanted to do the drills for the player and be graded on that. Xavier has had private lessons for the majority of his time as a goalie, I would expect that he could pass those tests with flying colours while a new goalie who was just learning might have a massive improvement and be graded less. This is similar to friends of mine who thought that the tests were too easy and tried to do the harder test. What amused me is that you would be sacrificing a guaranteed A+ for potentially a lower grade just to challenge yourself. I think that it is admirable to always push yourself, but there is a time and a place for that. In case you were wondering, I am a huge hypocrite and will often push myself when I should not and I get myself into trouble. When I was younger and I worked out with my friends we would take rest days and not do the same muscles two days in a row. I did not follow this and push myself a bit too much without the use of the wheelchair. We did not have the wheelchair in the vehicle so I do not know what I would do. While we were leaving the movie theatre we saw a vehicle without an accessible pass parking in that spot. I am not sure why it annoys me so much, but when I see it and the people that abuse it, I find it aggravating as there are limited spots and I know that I struggle to walk long distances. Those extra steps make quite a difference for me and I am in far better conditon than others. My lessons from this weekend are push myself to the limits and then rely on my son Xavier to carry me back to the vehicle like a sack of potatoes if I push myself too much.

Q

Today was supposed to be a nice quiet day, and I was informed that possibly today I would crash due to the treatment.
