It seems that not that long ago I arrived in Canada and started my life. Time flys by so quickly. When you start having kids you watch them grow up so fast in front of your eyes. I do not remember all of the things from my elementary school. I can not remember anything of note that happened when I was in Grade 4. I can not remember who my teacher was at the time, but in Grade 5 my best friend and myself were in charge of creating the school newspaper. The school got a new software and they thought it would be a great idea to release a school newspaper. We were the teachers pet that year and instead of partaking in lessons of the day we would be at the back of the class on the computer. Aside from creating the newspaper we were also in charge of evaluating the new software and determing which level of class it was suitable for. This was basically playing educational video games all day. When there was a test we went back to our desk and wrote the test. We did great on all of the tests, and it is hard to say whether it was because of our intelligence or whether there was lenient marking for us. The amusing part of all of this was we were the editors as we had someone who would type everything up for us. It was a bit ridiculous because I am pretty sure that both of us could out type her, but we had a secretary to do all of that for us. I remember sitting at the back of the class and just playing games with my best friend. I do not know how we got away with that, but we were the most proficient in the class with computers. My best friends older brother was a year ahead of us and he was great with computers, but I think that since my best friend and I excelled in school they thought that we would be able to keep up and not have it impact us much. We relied primarily on our innate intelligence at that age I think. My father pushed me to be far more advanced than what they were teaching at that level and I was reading at a level much higher than what they did at that age. I would take out several books from the library at once and read them by next week. One of my favorite books at the time was Ivanhoe, the original version. It was a classic. Another memory I have is the classes getting together to watch movies in the library. I do not remember if this was around Christmas or the end of hte year, but I remember watching The Empire Strikes Back on a TV in the library. I can not fathom how that movie was chosen or the educational importance of it, but it was awesome.

I have been sleeping through the night since we left for the tournament and it continued last night as well. Someone had said that if you eat right before bed you tend to have disruptions in sleep as your body is using resources with digestion, I am not sure if that happens with me or not. I went to get blood work today and when i showed up I was told that I had a pre-assessment appointment in person. In the past I just get a phone call, but I was told that they are moving to do this in person. I do not think that I am a big fan of that as now i have a scheduled time that I need to be there by and then do bloodwork while I am there. Prior I could just go i whenever I wanted. I have gone through this so much that I just flat out tell them that I am a no across the board except for the neuropathy, and that it is bad but gets better. I also mentioned that I think that I needed to be drained, they took my blood pressure and it measured at 106, which they thought was low, but I told them that for me that it was actually quite high. I think that my food intake right now is decreasing because of the increased fluid, I will talk to some nurses tomorrow about scheduling a drainage next week for me as I am not sure if I want to come in and do it while I an undergoing chemo, if they say that it is ok then I would do it, but they also give me some saline while I get drained at times.

This weekend I am going to roast some ribs on the smoker to make sure that I remember what I am doing before I roast a brisket with it. It seems like that would be the smart thing to do. If the ribs work out well then I will be confident next week. You can get Waygu brisket for a great price so I am going to do that and perhaps a rotisserie chicken as well for those that do not want to have pork or beef. My mother in law likes overcooked chicken breast, so I am just going to toss it in the fire until it turns into charcoal for her. We have started planning out the sides and will get people to help out with that because Mel fears that I might not be well enough for it. I was out and about for most of today for appointments and managed to go to Smiths twice as well as do a Costco run with Mel without the use of the wheelchair, my legs felt it afterwards though and I was a bit tired. I think that I am gaining more energy and building up some mass and things seem to be trending positive. Tomorrow I will be getting a CT scan so hopefully we will see what those results reveal. I am sure tomorrow is going to be a lot of fun.

Mach

Time moves so fast, it is already July 6th.
