Since you only play 2 games, you get seeded based on how you do, most of the teams had a win and a loss, while we had two ties, which would rank us lower as we had no wins. We played a team that as comprised of kids from Naughton in the first game and beat them in a shootout. Xavier let in a soft goal near the end of the game allowing them to tie it. Once we got into overtime then we knew that we had the game won. Xavier does very well in shootouts. He made the save on his shot and then his teammate scored to end the game. The other team has a lot of players that have played with Xavier and they did not think that they could score on Xavier. The shooter who shot on him said that there was nothing to shoot at so he tried his best but Xavier saved it. In the quarter finals we were the #8 seed against the #1 seed but they did not play many strong teams while we played 2 strong teams, the #3 and #4 ranked teams. We knew a lot of the players on this team as well so we had chatted with the parents prior to it. So far we have been outshot every game and we have a very simple strategy to win games. We have one player who has scored 9 out of our 11 goals. The strategy is give the puck to him to score and rely on Xavier to bail them out when mistakes are made. He made some very clutch saves and we ended up winning 2 to 0 and now get to have a rematch against the team we tied 5 to 5 at 7:15. The teams are a bit mismatched as that team has 3 AAA players on it and all of them score goals, while we have 1 goal scorer and Xavier. If we manage to beat them then it is highly likely that we will have a rematch against the 3rd ranked team that we tied 1 to 1 with. When the stakes are high, Xavier elevates his game and he has normally been clutch in big games. Some of the parents from the other team came up to me after the shutout and said that Xavier was too good for this tournament and that he should be kicked out jokingly. They said that whenever they have seen him or played against him that he was always lights out. During this whole tournament it seems that all of the kids know who Xavier is and say that he is very hard to score on.

I woke up rather early this morning and ate the rest of my shwarma and then went back to be where I got up a couple of hours later. Mel, her father and I then walked to get some coffee and we lounged for a bit eating breakfast from things we had in the fridge and then we went to the game. I had meant to bring some food but I had forgotten. After our game we went for Korean BBQ, where I spend the whole time cooking and giving meat to everyone else and then once in a while I will take a bite of meat to eat. It works out well because since I have such a small stomach I can focus on that and others can eat. Afterwards we went and grabbed some drinks at Cha Time, and the kids realized that the only Cha Time they like is the one owned by my cousins son. They get far more customization options to make their drink better. I ended up getting a 1 liter peach iced tea as that is the only size available, we went back to the hotel for a bit before going to the next game. Mel realized that one of my strongest suits, navigation was not that great in the last couple of days. She was right, as the mental map I had in my head was non-existent or hard to see, Normally it is like reading a book and I can just flip to the page I want and then I can see it. The last couple of days my head has been more foggy when navigating and I have made several mistakes. I struggle to visually see it as I think that I am tired. The neuropathy in my hands are getting better as I have light tingling and no more pain when I touch cold things. I do not mind the minor tingling as that is the baseline. Overall things are getting better, but right now I am getting tired. It might be because I know that I need to get up at 5:30 and my body is telling me to sleep.

When we were moving houses the grade 2 teacher had told everyone in the class and we shared information and I think the intent was to try and find kids that lived close to me so that I could have some friends. I am not sure about the details of all of the kids, but the one thing that I did remember was that one the kids had mentioned that his address number was the same as mine. We were friends, but I was not as close to him as I was to others. Something that is amusing was that since we were kids he had always wanted to be an NHL ref. Not a hockey player, but a referee. He is quite tall and build rather wide so this is a job that he would excel at. He ended up being a referee in the NHL and was regarded high enough that he worked during the playoffs. I think that in the NHL he is a linesman but he is the same size or bigger than a majority of the players. He is a nice guy and was part of my circle of friends growing up. When I was young I had a friend who had a paper route. For the young people there use to be a physical newspaper that kids would deliver to houses as part of their route. There were 3 major newspapers at that time, the Northern Life which was sent out twice a week and the Sudbury Star and the Toronto Star that were delivered daily. A friend of mine did this year round, but he would go to his camp for a couple of weeks at a time or for the whole summer and he would need someone to cover for him. I did it at the time. I did not mind delivering the papers, but i disliked collecting money from people every couple of weeks. My dad would get mad at me for not collecting but doing the work for free.

Now that I am older I understand the concept, but as a kid I did not care. They would take me to their camp for a weekend during the summer as a perk, and I wonder who delivered the paper during that time. Birthday parties for me were rare, but I do remember that his mother bought me a shirt for one of my birthdays. On the front it had a 3 wheeled ATV and on the back in a velvety font it had my name. They spelled it Quo Ho. They tried but it amuses me that they spelled my name wrong. Back in those days they did not call your parents and ask, or they may have tried and my parents would not have understood. Things are so different now compared to when I had grown up. As kids we were left to fend for ourselves, my kids I think can survive on their own, but Mel does not think that they are old enough to be home alone yet and apparently it is illegal. But really, it is only illegal if someone calls and complains. There is no one going house to house checking for underage kids home alone. Mel and her rule following.

Quoc Hao

We had two games today with both of them elimination and we are probably the best 8th ranked team in the tournament.
